Information for IBT Members and Employers Concerning Campaign Access to Employer Parking Lots
This section contains important information for IBT members and employers regarding the rules governing access to employer parking lots for campaigning by candidates for IBT convention delegate or alternate delegate and candidates for IBT international office.
Article VII, Section 12(e) of the
2025-2026 Rules grants members and candidates the limited right of
access to employer parking lots where employees park their vehicles,
for the purpose of distributing campaign literature and soliciting
support from IBT members as they enter and leave work; the United
States District Court has issued an Order enforcing this right.
For
the 2025-2026 IBT International Delegate and Officer Election, the
Election Supervisor has designated Joe Childers as the Parking Lot
Access Coordinator. If members or campaigns encounter issues
obtaining campaign access to parking lots covered by this provision,
they should contact Mr. Childers directly at 859-351-7496
So that the Parking Lot Access Coordinator can be effective in resolving issues, members needing assistance should gather the following information before contacting him:
-
Street address of the employer’s facility where the access problem has occurred;
-
Name and phone number of the facility’s manager, labor relations official, or supervisor, or, if such information cannot be obtained, name and phone number of the staff member or security guard who barred or interfered with campaign access.
