IN RE: JOHN LATTANZIO, ) Protest Decision 2011 ESD 290
) Issued: June 30, 2011
Protestor. ) OES Case Nos. P-285-062611-FW
____________________________________)
John Lattanzio, member of Local Union 690, filed a pre-election protest pursuant to Article XIII, Section 2(b) of the Rules for the 2010-2011 IBT International Union Delegate and Officer Election (“Rules”). The protest alleged that Local Union 690 failed to arrange payment of the hotel lodging expenses of its elected delegates to the IBT convention
Election Supervisor representative Chris Mrak investigated this protest.
Investigation showed that the local union took the required steps to arrange payment of hotel lodging expenses of its delegation well before the dates of the convention. Despite these steps, payment was not accomplished at the time of check-in, and the delegates were obliged to guarantee payment of the hotel room and tax expense with their personal credit cards.
Following the filing of this protest, the local union worked promptly and diligently to insure that payment was received by the hotel, and confirmation has been received that the lodging expense has been paid by the local union in accordance with its obligation under the Election Supervisor’s Advisory on convention expenses.
Based on this result, protestor Lattanzio requested to withdraw his protest. Finding that withdrawal furthers the purposes of the Rules, we deem this protest WITHDRAWN.
