Re: Election Office Case No. P-427-LU421-MOI
Gentlepersons:
A pre-election protest was filed pursuant to Article XVI, Section 2(b) of the Rules for the 1995-1996 IBT International Union Delegate and Officer Election (“Rules ”) by David J. Schroeder, a member of Local Union 421. Mr. Schroeder alleges that Dennis Schlegel,
Kay Petitgout, and Jean Dunwoody were improperly nominated as alternate delegates.
The protester asserts that these nominations were improper because the documents constituting the written nomination, second, and acceptance of the candidates did not contain their telephone numbers or addresses.
This protest was investigated by Regional Coordinator Michael D. Gordon.
The option to nominate, second, and accept nominations in writing is set forth in the Rules at Article II, Section 5(f) and (g). A nominator, seconder, or a member accepting a nomination is not required to place his or her telephone number or address on the written documents allowed by the Rules.
For the foregoing reasons, the protest is DENIED.
