Re: Election Office Case No. P-737-LU299-MGN
Gentlepersons:
A pre-election protest was filed pursuant to Article XIV, Section 2(b) of the Rules for the 1995-1996 IBT International Union Delegate and Officer Election (“Rules”) by Rondal C. Owens, a candidate for International vice president on the Ron Carey slate. The protester alleges that James Hoffa and the Hoffa No Dues Increase slate of delegate candidates in Local Union 299 has been utilizing union resources in connection with a telephone bank for the Hoffa slate and Mr. Hoffa. Mr. Owens has now advised the Election Officer that he wishes to withdraw his protest. The Election Officer, finding that the proposed withdrawal effectuates the purpose of the Rules, permits the protest to be WITHDRAWN.
Any interested party not satisfied with this determination may request a hearing before the Election Appeals Master within one day of receipt of this letter. The parties are reminded that, absent extraordinary circumstances, no party may rely upon evidence that was not presented to the Office of the Election Officer in any such appeal. Requests for a hearing shall be made in writing and shall be served on:
