Re: Election Office Case No. P-779-LU743-CHI
Gentlemen:
IBT General Secretary-Treasurer Tom Sever filed a protest pursuant to Article XIV, Section 2(b) of the Rules for the IBT International Union Delegate and Officer Election (“Rules”), alleging possible impropriety in connection with the Local Union 743 delegate election, which was completed on April 27, 1996. Mr. Sever contends that the result of an investigation into Local Union 743’s subsequent local union officer’s election, a hearing officer disqualified one of the officer candidates based on improper campaigning, and suggests that similar problems may have affected the outcome of the delegate election. By letter to the Election Officer dated June 10, 1996, Mr. Sever requests that his protest be withdrawn.
Accordingly, the protest is WITHDRAWN.
Any interested party not satisfied with this determination may request a hearing before the Election Appeals Master within one day of receipt of this letter. The parties are reminded that, absent extraordinary circumstances, no party may rely upon evidence that was not presented to the Office of the Election Officer in any such appeal. Requests for a hearing shall be made in writing and shall be served on:
Tom Sever
